Sr Trish Franklin
Sr Trish Franklin (Class of 1968) celebrated her Golden Jubilee – 50 years as a Loreto Sister – in 2020 after entering the Loreto Order on February 15, 1970.
Trish completed her primary teacher training at Loreto Marryatville in South Australia and returned to Ballarat in 1974 where she taught at St Aloysius Redan. While completing her Bachelor of Education she also taught in Western Australia at Loreto Nedlands before developing a life passion that would take her much further away.
In 1984, Trish volunteered in the refugee camps on the Thai-Cambodia border, working tirelessly in pursuit of the rights of children and ultimately leading her to Vietnam where she was fundamental in the establishment of the Loreto Vietnam Australia Program (LVAP).
The LVAP has helped educate and support disadvantaged Vietnamese children and won world-wide acclaim for its target projects to help young Vietnamese students in inner city and rural areas.
Now based in Melbourne, Sr Trish’s connections with both the LVAP and Loreto communities still remain strong as a valuable leader and contributor.
