Loreto – Australia & South East Asia
Loreto Sisters and colleagues form a wide circle of friends inspired by our founder, Mary Ward. They continue her mission to bring justice, equality and healing to the world particularly through the education of women and ‘other means congruous to the times’.
Based on the Ignatian spiritual tradition, Loreto ministries aim to support growth into freedom with a generosity and confidence to seek truth and do justice.
Loreto Sisters and the Loreto family follow their founder, Mary Ward, in empowering women to seek truth and do justice. Their values of Freedom, Justice, Sincerity, Verity and Felicity are taught in Loreto schools and are taken into the wider community through their advocacy work in welfare, social justice and spiritual guidance.
Loreto, with their sister congregation, the Congregation of Jesus, have established communities and schools across the world. Sisters of the Australian Province also live and work in Vietnam, Timor Leste and the Philippines.
Loreto College Ballarat is part of an international network of schools inspired by Mary Ward and an Ignatian spiritual tradition.
