Maria Myers AC AO (Jens), Philanthropist
Maria Myers received the nation’s highest Australia Day honour in 2016, a Companion of the Order of Australia (AC) for her work in the arts, culture, education and indigenous rock art programs. She was a student at Loreto Abbey, Mary’s Mount Years 6 – 12. Mrs Myers then went to St Mary’s College, University of Melbourne, before working as a social worker.
Mrs Myers has held and holds many positions including:
- Chairman of the Kimberley Foundation Australia since 2009
- Board member of the State Library of Victoria Foundation
- Member of the State Library of Victoria Foundation Council (since 2007)
- Loreto College Ballarat School Council (since 2010)
- Member of St Mary’s College Council, University of Melbourne, and
- Supporter of the Australian Ballet.
She was awarded an Officer in the Order of Australia (AO) in 2007 for service as a philanthropist, supporting and endowing a range of charitable, indigenous, heritage and art organisations.
