Dr Tricia Ong, PhD, Lecturer

Tricia Ong (Class of 1984) is a Lecturer in Career Education at Deakin University, Melbourne. Prior to this, she taught post-graduate and undergraduate students from all over the globe in the School of Health and Social Development. She has also managed the day-to-day running of Deakin University’s Theatre-based Education Program which aims to educate and promote supportive action around two significant public health issues: violence against women and trans and gender diversity.

Tricia has published several academic papers on her Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) research. Her first book A Feminist Approach to Sensitive Research: Designing the Clay Embodiment Research Method* describes the process of designing a new research method (using clay) for her culturally sensitive reproductive health research with young sex trafficked women in Nepal. She has presented on this body of work in Australia, Canada, Ireland, Myanmar, Nepal and the Netherlands.

Tricia has a PhD in Public Health from Deakin University, a Master of Creative Arts Therapy from RMIT University, a Graduate Certificate in Business Management (Project Management) from Swinburne University and a Certificate of Applied Social Science (Child Care) from Gordon Technical College. She is a Member of the Deakin Research on Violence Against Women hub and Australia Global Alumni.
