There was no rest and relaxation over the term break for Loreto College Year 9 student Sophie Molan. Sophie took on the best in the State, represe
nting Victoria Country in the National Junior Basketball Championships.
Sophie was one of the top ten girls selected to represent Victoria Country against the country and metropolitan teams from all over Australia. The full week of top level basketball was held in Kilsyth, Melbourne. The girls arrived on Friday to settle into their accommodation and have a final training session before the first game bounced off on Saturday with a grand opening ceremony.
The level of the competition was outstanding and Sophie says, “There were some very tall girls!…It was an amazing week and an experience that I will always remember and I will use to to further develop my skills back in my local competition”. Sophie’s Victoria Country team finished a highly commendable sixth place overall, a phenomenal effort at a National level.
