A great afternoon yesterday at the 2022 Respect Cup alongside Sacred Heart College Geelong, St Patrick’s College, Ballarat & St Joseph’s College Geelong. With a great atmosphere, the day began with St Pats versus St Josephs with St Pats coming away with the win by 2 points. Loreto then took the field against Sacred Heart in a nail-biter which ultimately finished a great game with a draw. With the results of Loreto and St Pats combined, Ballarat went on to retain the Respect Cup!
Afterwards, all schools joined together to hear from Ben Kavenagh, Head of AFL Victoria speak about the importance of women in sport, the growth in opportunities this provides and overall, how our football clubs are so much richer for girls being involved. Well done to all of our footy superstars and coaches who represented Loreto and a big congratulations to Laila Lappin who took out the best on ground award for Loreto!
Thank you to Federation University Australia for supporting this initiative that continues to emphasise the importance of gender equality and respectful relationships in our society.
