Maria Myers AC AO (Jens), Philanthropist

Maria Myers received the nation’s highest Australia Day honour in 2016 a Companion of the Order of Australia (AC) for her work in the arts, culture, education and indigenous rock art programs. She was a student at Loreto Abbey, Mary’s Mount Years 6 – 12. Mrs Myers then went to St Mary’s College, University of Melbourne, before working as a social worker. Mrs Myers has held and holds many positions including:  Chairman of the Kimberley Foundation Australia since 2009, board member of the State Library of Victoria Foundation, a member of the State Library of Victoria Foundation Council (since 2007), Loreto College Ballarat School Council (since 2010), a member of St Mary’s College Council, University of Melbourne, and supporter of the Australian Ballet. She was awarded an Officer in the Order of Australia (AO) in 2007 for service as a philanthropist, supporting and endowing a range of charitable, indigenous, heritage and art organisations.
